In Matthew chapter 21, the Savior rides into Jerusalem on a donkey and is greeted with shouts of "Hosannah" (meaning "Oh, Save us now!").
The people cut down palm branches and waved them to welcome their Lord and King.

If you live in a climate that is tolerant to palm trees, consider obtaining branches to wave on Palm Sunday to remember and worship the Lord with songs, processions and shouts of Hosannah! as well. Other types of tree branches can be used as well.
Home improvement stores also often carry smaller potted palm trees that can be used for decoration, to express our adoration for the Messiah.

Song and joyful activity can and should be used to celebrate and welcome the Lord's return. The Savior replied to the concerned Pharisees that if those who were in His presence did not shout Hosannah to their Lord, the very stones would cry out.
We should sing to welcome our Lord so that the stones don't have to, or at least match their voices with ours.

Each dedication of a house of the Lord in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is also accompanied by a Hosannah Shout--which does not require a particular tree species to participate in. This setting should remind us of Palm Sunday, and Palm Sunday should remind us of the Lord's sacred house and the work He wants us to do there.
