Some families use General Conference weekend as an opportunity to repack their emergency preparedness supplies, 72-hour kits and cycle their home food storage. As we hear testimonies and warnings from prophets and apostles about our need to prepare for the resurrection, the Savior's Second Coming, and to go to the rescue of others in times of distress, our own preparation is paramount. Spiritual preparation is fortified when we take the necessary steps to be prepared physically, mentally and emotionally as well.

Preparation isn't just about checklists and following published guidelines, although there is considerable value in having checklists and gaining mastery with basic preparedness recommendations. There is however a further intriguing possibility as we prepare for the future:
We can be prepared "in a manner that never had been known" to face and triumph over future challenges.
As you secure, review and refresh the basics of preparedness for the future, you are invited to ponder, explore and develop new strategies never-seen-before to be ready for the resurrection, when the Savior comes again, and when others are in need.
